Elijah, Jezebel and the Bride:
Where Are We Now?
Completing the Prophetic/Pastoral Marriage
We are yet a long way from establishment of apostolic/prophetic government in the church. Before this happens, there is much courting yet to be done. The Lord is working to bring the apostolic/pastoral stream to maturity where it can provide true husbandry for the church—ministering no nonsense truth with sensitivity to human weakness.
For this, tempering continues in the deserts and around the fringes of the pastoral-prophetic church as the Lord sifts the men from the boys, the humble from the incorrigibly wounded and critical, and instructs His men in the finer nuances of pastoral sensitivities. Given the coming power and authority for discipline to be exercised by the apostolic/prophetic, the Lord cannot afford to entrust His church to anything less.
A purged wholehearted devotion to the Lord also continues developing in the pastoral stream. The Lord’s “Cinderella” church continues to be increasingly unwrapped from mummification and separated out from the jezebellic and saul-natured leaderships who will not repent and will become part of the final harlot system.
Through continued encounters with maturing governmental saints on her fringe, this elect lady is also learning more and more that she cannot escape the advances of the Lord’s prophetic husbands nor ultimately redefine them to suit herself. On the edge of her awareness is the intuition that sooner or later, she will have to say “yes.”
- “In that day, seven women will take hold of one man and say…let us be called by your name.”
But for the pastoral stream to finally say “I do” and marriage to occur will require a final cataclysm in which the pastoral loses the support of her remaining societal props. This cataclysm will involve a sudden enmity between the church and the society of man she has labored so diligently to give herself to in the name of the Lord—and from which the pastoral church has really drawn so much support.
When this cataclysm occurs, everything the pastoral stream has taken for granted in the world will be taken away, from buildings to salaries to tax breaks. The latent hostile beast spirit of man will rise up from the earth and will begin to lay its claim to the pastoral church. The church will finally realize her deception and that she has favored the wrong end of mankind all along. In accord with Isaiah’s prophecy, she will look in desperation to the apostolic/prophetic to pick her up and give her a new name.
In that day, the basic resistance by the pastoral nature toward the Lord’s governmental nature will be broken. In the way Jesus said to Israel, “you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,’ so has the pastoral church not seen the apostolic/prophetic ministry which she has historically resisted.
A major repentance will occur, and the remnant pastoral keepers of the flocks will see the Lord again through the apostolic/pastoral and call them blessed. They will break down and embrace them in tears. And then as one, the governmental prophetic and pastoral together will bring forth the unified church of full stature able to be joined to the Lord.
