The Body And The Beast -
Saul and David:
I Sam 16:1 Now the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go ; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons."
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed [David] in the midst of his brothers ; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. .... 14 Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD terrorized him. 18:12 Now Saul was afraid of David, for the LORD was with him but had departed from Saul.
Throughout this series we have observed how in conjunction with the church’s early influence, the Lord sovereignly raised up the American nation under an anointing—very much like He raised up Cyrus—for His favorable purposes. We also first commented in Part II on how this anointing is now lifting from
, revealing in wake of its departure the true beastly nature within a human people descended from Adam. At that time we left open the question of why that anointing is departing, but now turn to look at this. America
In the immediate sense, many reasons rooted in
’s own unbelief and behavior can be cited for the departing of the Lord’s anointing. For example, we can look at the official rejection of God by the American judicial system beginning in the 1950’s. We could look at earlier sins and point to these as well. We could look at the church and discover where the church has failed on its own watch in the land, becoming conformed to America Americarather than bringing into subjection to Christ. America
But have these sins caused the loss of the anointing, or could it be that the removal of the anointing’s restraining power has simply revealed the underlying unbelief and sinfulness of a human national beast?
Certainly, there is definite cause/effect whereby a people’s unbelief and sin leads to the Lord’s departure. But there is also a bigger picture. For the truth is that the anointing for world rulership on a human nation can never be God’s final plan. His ultimate plan is to transfer the power of the kingdoms of this world into the hands of His Son and His Body, the saints. It’s His goal that His redeemed Royal Priesthood and Holy Nation rule the world—without contest.
For this to happen, there must come a transfer of the anointing for world rulership. The anointing that has worked throughout history to raise various nations to power in the earth must at some point be taken back by the Lord and given to His People.
We can appreciate this transfer by looking yet once again at the story of Saul and David.
Transferring the Anointing For World Rulership
I’m always amazed at the numerous levels of prophetic application simple Bible stories contain. They seem endless, and perhaps are. Just when you think you’ve found the greatest application of a prophetic type in one, another appears!
Who can count the numerous analogies and types from the story of Saul and David preached over the years? Nevertheless once more, I find something to be discovered in this inimical relationship—one that applies uniquely to the relationship between the waning/deteriorating “American Dream-land” and the rise of the global church toward final victory in the earth.
Let’s look at Saul’s anointing for another moment. What’s really interesting about Saul’s reign is that He was anointed and raised to kingship over
by the Lord, yet His kingship was the direct result of a rebellion by a restless nation against the Lord’s own rule! (“Go figure,” as they say?—but if we can follow this, I think we’ll understand the present situation in Israel much better.) America
So here we have a people who no longer want God’s direct rule through prophet-judges. They want their own king. God warns what will happen if they take such a king, but He still gives them that king. He truly raises up and anoints that king for powerful leadership in the land. The anointing is true, not false. Nevertheless, such a king was never God’s ultimate plan for the nation. And if so, then it is inevitable that—anointing notwithstanding—this kingship must eventually fail.
-Saul Will Be Saul
What am I saying? Only this: despite the anointing for kingship, Saul was always Saul. Saul’s interior nature was one that reflected what the people had wanted in their rebellion in the first place. Over time, Saul’s rebellion manifested, despite His anointing. Then the anointing lifted from Him and was transferred to David.
In truth, the anointing could never have abided on Saul forever—no matter how many promises be given him for faithfulness—because Saul did not possess the nature requisite for God’s final plan for rulership. The anointing was not a reward for Saul’s virtuous personality. In reality, the anointing kept Saul in check as much as it empowered him. The anointing struggled against Saul’s own nature.
At a point, the anointing allowed Saul to go his natural way. And as it did, and Saul yielded to his own disobedience, then the anointing became manifestly removed from him.
- David: the Type of God’s Final Plan
David represents a type of God’s ultimate plan for rulership. Unlike Saul, David was a man “after God’s own heart.” David possessed the nature requisite for fulfilling God’s plan for rulership, though it took time for him to develop and mature. He was not born with the anointing for rulership and it had yet to be committed to him.
As we all know, David lived faithfully as a shepherd. That’s all he was—a shepherd. And he lived and grew up under authority of Saul’s kingly anointing—even though he had the heart of the king, and the king did not. He was a “good citizen” under the kingly arrangement. And you can be sure Jesse, his dad, paid his taxes under the new arrangement as well. (His brothers were certainly submitted as soldiers in the government.)
But over time, as Saul’s anointing ceased restraining him and his disobedience was allowed to manifest, the anointing for leadership became lifted off of him. It was then that the anointing was transferred to the man who possessed the Lord’s nature and who by type, represents God’s ultimate plan for rulership.
The transference of the kingship anointing from Saul to David did not go smoothly, as we also know. Despite David’s respectful heart, Saul viciously assailed David at every opportunity, while sinking to the consulting of witches for direction—revealing all the more why he could never have represented God’s final plan for rulership. David was hounded in the desert. There was great war between the two. But eventually, the one who by type represented the final plan was revealed as the king, received the kingdom, and gained the complete dominion over the land.
as Saul, and the Emerging Davidic Church America
If we apply our understanding of
and the end-time Church to the story of Saul and David, we gain a spiritually reasonable explanation of why the anointing of Christian influence is leaving the American culture and society, where it is going, and what must become the final end of the human American nation. America
Like Saul, the American nation has never ever represented God’s plan for final rulership in the earth, even though it was anointed to obtain a temporary place of world leadership under the godly influences of the church within it.
was born as a human nation outside the lineage of Christ. It was born as a beast, obtaining its independence through a human war which was partly instigated by acts of mob violence centered on economic issues (witness the 1770 "Boston Massacre"). It was established for the promotion of good—but not God’s—values. And though anointed despite these carnal beginnings, it retains a beast nature common to all corporate mankind. No matter how tamed by the anointing, America must like all beasts eventually turn its back on that anointing, reveal its true nature, watch its anointing be taken from it, and finally die as all beasts do. America
God’s final plan for world rulership is to transfer the anointing for that rulership to that nation which bears the heart of David, that shepherd nation born from heaven, not of the earth--the one born in Christ’s own lineage and which is after the Lord’s own heart. That one nation under God is the emerging Davidic church—a nation still largely hidden, still tending its flocks, still paying its taxes under Saul, still gaining strength against lions and bears in the field. [For greater discussion of this, see Part XIII. ]
Where we are now is this: --the anointing is in the final phases of leaving the Saulic nation for good. The spirit behind the American nation is threatened by the emerging Davidic church. The true nature of the American "Saul culture" is being revealed for all its perversity and rebellion.
Though the Davidic end time church brings
a soothing blessing through its power of worship and has more than adequately proved its submission to its authority, the American culture has actively set itself to persecute everything that bears the Name by which it was once established in its own authority--hounding the Body that is in process of receiving its anointing for rulership! America
Fixing Our Vision: Rising to Our Calling
The Lord said to Samuel, "How long will you weep for Saul seeing I have rejected him as king?" The Lord is asking the same question today of the prophetic intercessory church in relation to
. For the truth is, we have come to the time in world history where the anointing for world rulership is in process of being manifestly transferred from all the kingdoms of this world and into the hands of the Davidic church. America
But we have divided hearts. We know we have been appointed as the Lord’s people to take dominion over the earth, but we are still endeared to a country past where things once seemed great and good to us, where the Lord and the church seemed favored, and we believed in the nobility of anointed values on which the nation was first established.
In other words, we still dote on our memories of Saul when he was “little in his own sight.” We keep trying to reinforce that memory as if it will somehow change Sauline
back to something he never really was. Though we have the heart of David, we want to keep thinking of ourselves in the field where we began, tending sheep, paying taxes to Saul, and supporting his armies against the Islamic or Russian Phillistines. America
But like David, we have been called to pass through a metamorphosis of thought and spirit in our relationship to Saul and the American nation. Despite his boyhood true-blue loyalty to the king as a natural Israelite, David had to wake up to the reality that he was called to become king in place of Saul, not as heir to Saul.
David needed to realize that Saul was not just having a few bad days and would eventually become all right again. He had to understand that the anointing had left Saul, was now his, that Saul was out to kill him, and that Saul was not going to change, no matter how much loyalty and respect David showed toward him. He had to realize that his kingdom would have no connection at all to the original family of Saul. It was to be a brand new kingdom beginning with his own line. A clear break in identity had to be made once and for all.
These were realities of mental shift it took David years to work out. He had to alternate between mourning for Saul and standing up against Saul to affirm God’s purpose for him. And it is taking the church likewise much time to work this out. As
deteriorates, the call is on the Davidic church to snap alert to the true implications of the anointing that is already upon it. America
The kingdom transfer has already begun.
is not returning to 1620 or 1776. The Philistines of the third world will eventually cause America to fall on its own sword. All the nations will fall together in that day. America
But for those who answer the wilderness call to the Davidic heart and make their break from the Sauline house of American culture, not only will they be spared the demise of Saul, but his demise will actually be God’s final chapter in opening up the earth to the rod of the returning Son of David and the Davidic people! Thus shall it be with all the kingdoms of this world.
Seeing that these things are already now in process of beginning, what do you think you should do with your heart in relation to
? Are you ready to take on the pure identity of the Davidic order and aspire to your holy place of authority in the earth? Right now, much impassioned prophetic intercession for America is in God’s eyes a weeping for Saul. A crisis is going to develop in the church over the next 10 years as God begins to bring intercessors up short for such weeping and wailing, and begins requiring us to leave Saul behind. America
Before David could take on the giant, he had to take on the bears and lions. Likewise, the church is going to finally face a world beast that equates to goliath. But before the church can overcome the coming beast of goliath, it needs to overcome the present lions and bears of surrounding national identities. If we do not learn to overcome allegiance now to national citizenship, we will be unprepared and unable to overcome when all men are called to world citizenry, and the penalty for resistance is death.
A crisis is coming yet to the church over its citizenship in this world as portrayed by the beasts.
