Subject: Living in a Fire Storm!

Dear Chris,

I am feeling led to share with you my life experience this past week.  I will only touch lightly on what was a very intense situation. Last Monday, Oct. 9th, at 3:30 am, my husband and I had to evacuate our home from the fire storm burning in Santa Rosa and surrounding areas.  As we drove down the street, seeing the glow in the sky near by, I thought I many never see my home and ‘stuff’ again and that it had tobe alright, and it was alright in my spirit.  I did not look back.

We went to our son Matthew, daughter in law and 4 grandchildren’s home across town.  Which usually takes 10 minutes, took 1 1/2 hours.  They also had a fire going right behind the hill about 3 miles away.  Our other son, Christian,  lives in Napa Valley and even today still monitoring fire close to his home.

I am aware of God’s judgments and I know that they are here upon the nations, lands and peoples.

But what I experienced deep within my spirit was that Holy Spirit was going to be using this for an assaying test to see what was in our hearts. A whole gamut of emotions ran through and over the whole city. Everyone to one degree or another had been affected.  Life as we had known it had been instantly changed and now the test was to live out our walk in Him in the midst of a physical, emotional and spiritual fire storm.

Everyone, the whole city of Santa Rosa and surrounding cities and counties went into survival mode. Some were spared the lost of modern conveniences, most were not.  Power, gas, phones, inter net, neighboring stores and restaurants gone.  The world outside knew more of what was going on than we did.  We heard by word of mouth.  For days the smoke was so bad you had to stay inside or wear a mask.

My goal was to keep my spirit calm (as much as possible) during the intense situations.  Passed some and failed some.  But this is what I saw, fear running rampant, and rightfully so, then those whose strength were in the Lord and had His peace and then every emotion in between. Your only place of peace when you are living within a war zone of total destruction and fires around you is

in knowing Him and that Father, Son and Holy Spirit are within you and you are within them.  They alone are your place of safety and protection under the shadow of His wings, but you must be in a place of yielding, hearing, obeying, trusting and resting.  You have to always remember in your spirit that it is all about the Father’s will and it has nothing to do with what you experience, see or hear around you.

It is not my will, but Thy will be done. He is God and He can and will do whatever He purposes and plans. We didn’t lose our homes, but so many precious believers did, some fleeing with just what they had on their backs.

This trial in which we were in and still are in has really put everything into perspective.  So many things we allow to consume us each day will not carry us through the floods or fires, only the Lord God the Holy One of Israel.

So here is a little story I want to share.  While at son’s home, my 14 year old granddaughter, Selah would keep coming in to my son Matt and say, “Why aren’t we doing something, the neighbors are leaving,  hosing down roofs, and etc?”  This went on for two days.  Finally I said, “We are doing something, we are waiting.” She looked at me puzzled.

I continued, “Most people look at waiting as doing nothing, but waiting is  ‘a word of action’, for God sees our waiting as FAITH in Him, and faith allows God to work.” (waiting:  the action of staying where one is or delaying until a particular time or something else happens).

So this is where Kingdom Rubber meets the Road, (to me).

Hear oh Israel, hear My Sons of God, hear My flock, hear My body, hear My bride

HEAR AND OBEY

If I tell you to flee (like Lot and his family) flee and do not look back.

If I tell you to wait in faith, trust and rest, then you wait.

Either place or both you are in Me, under the shadow of My wings.”

Under His Wings,

Vicki
