America’s Prophets at Mount Carmel
I Ki. 18:25 So Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose the one ox for yourselves and prepare it first, since there are many of you, and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under the ox.” 26 Then they took the ox which was given them and they prepared it, and they called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice and no one answered. And they limped about the altar which they had made. 27 And at noon Elijah ridiculed them and said, “Call out with a loud voice, since he is a god; undoubtedly he is attending to business, or is on the way, or is on a journey. Perhaps he is asleep, and will awaken.” 28 So they cried out with a loud voice, and cut themselves according to their custom with swords and lances until blood gushed out on them. 29 When midday was past, they raved until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid attention.
It’s coming to a head—a clashing storm at hand in the American prophetic church:
On one side—baal’s super-majority prophets worshiping a fleshly nation, its euro-christianesque heritage, venerating as demigods it founders and military, mythologizing its history, bowing to its symbols and statues, looking back at Sodom,1 weeping for Tammuz and Saul2—even for “the soul of a nation.”
On the other side—the remnant Spirit of Elijah zealous for identity-severing circumcision of saved spirit from adamic soul,3 for virginal purity in Christ apart from every nation, race and culture4—yes, from the love of this passing world5—leading the way out of Egypt to immortal life atop Mount Zion,6 weeping only for the soul of God’s holy people,7 while standing ready to rejoice at Babylon’s fall.8
Each side has a sacrifice to bring to their [G]od. And a fire is shortly to fall on one of those sacrifices. America’s baal prophets have been given first opportunity to call down the fire. They have been doing so for over a generation through conventions, ministries, books, and TV—and no fire continues to fall. Their prophecies of American cultural salvation bob and weave, morph and fizzle, year to year, election cycle to election cycle. (What, is their god on a journey? Or is he perhaps asleep?)
But shortly it will be Elijah’s turn. As baal’s prophets exhaust themselves, the voice of Elijah will rise to the fore. A new intercession with true authority will ascend to the throne. A new prophetic utterance will be heard. And when it calls down God’s true holy Fire, God will answer—that Fire will fall!9
When that Fire falls, it will fall not only on the Elijah remnant, but also on baal’s followers and on America itself—all to different effect:
- When it falls on the Elijah remnant, it will transform them as by chariot into the immortal sons of God,10 even unto the Land11 of truest promise. So shall they ever be with the Lord to stand before the Son of Man.12
- When it falls on baal’s prophets and their followers, it will turn them to pillars of salt.13 So shall they be led off to die in the prison camps of the land they worshipped upon a bed of great tribulation.14
- And when it falls on America, it will turn the land with its idols, its monolith canaanite cities and its commerce to ash. So will come to its end the times of the gentiles.15
Those who heed the Elijah call to repent and renounce their identity and life in this nation will be spared and delivered to find it, singing the song of Moses.16 Great will be the revival of these who wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb.17
So shall it be in the day of the appearing of the Son of Man.18
