The Eternal Shift
“For—your life is hid with Christ in God.”
As world war mounts, and my heart tells me it will come to the Western hemisphere as well, I have worshipped over the question, “Lord, how will You protect Your people—those with hearts saturated in You—amidst the impending catastrophes coming to all the earth?”
In this meditation, I have seen where the Lord’s deliverance will not be found so much in geographical removals and physical protections as it will be found through divine dimensional shifts to occur between the temporal and eternal realms—shifts which in effect hide us from the temporal realm itself.
Examples of “eternal shifts” are found in scripture, and the concept explains just what some scriptures really mean, even though we have not understood them very well. Eternal shifts occur where the Lord overrules time and space to supernaturally re-place people where and when he wants them in the time/space continuum, either to accomplish His will or to specially protect them.
Demonstrations of Dimensional Shifting
Here are five Bible examples of what I see as eternal shifts: 1) Elijah “outran” Ahab’s chariot to Jezreel; 2) Philip was one moment in the Sinai desert, the next moment he was “found in Azotus;” 3) the ship with Jesus and the disciples was “immediately” at the other shore from the middle of the Sea of Galilee; 4) on several occasions, Jesus invisibly “passed through the midst” of mobs ready to kill him; 5) though He never left Patmos, John was shifted through the Spirit into the day of the Lord [“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day” (- note: he’s not talking about “Sunday”)].
In all these instances, the power of the world to come—the Eternal cosmos—directly infringes on the time/space continuum. We can find numerous other biblical eternal shifts such as the Mount of Transfiguration encounter, Jeremiah’s travel to the nations, and all angelic appearances / disappearances. We also have stories from modern missions lore of these shifts, plus testimonies from near death experiences. (Even the world of science fiction has some idea of this, coining terms like “dimensional shifting,” “phasing,” and “cloaking.”)
“I Will Keep You From the Time…”
Please look with me at a special promise from Revelation 3. In writing to the Philadelphians (those with the fruit of brotherly love), Jesus promises His weak but enduring faithful that He has “opened a door which no man can shut,” and that He will “keep you from the time of tribulation that is to try all the earth.”
This is none other than a promise of deliverance by means of eternal shifting. Our delivery from otherwise inescapable earthwide tribulation occurs by taking us out of the time-space continuum itself, hiding us—cloaking us, if you will—inside the eternal realm. The open door is the door to the eternal realm—the same door through which John was transported in chapter 4.
This promise in Revelation 3 is foreshadowed in the Isaiah 26:20 invitation: “Come, My people, enter into your inner chambers, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself shortly a moment till the indignation pass over .” Entry into an eternal shift is literal entry into the “secret place of the Most High.” Eternal shifting actualizes the meaning of Paul’s word: our life is hid with Christ in God.
Immortality: The Ultimate Eternal Shift
Eternal shifting protects us by momentarily taking us out of time itself. This grace will become prevalent to “Philadelphians” as earth’s complete travail comes forth. But this grace is but a foretaste of a “Great Eternal Shift” to occur when we permanently “shift” from physical mortality to immortality.
In the Great Eternal Shift of bodily translation, we move out completely from dominion under the time/space continuum. The Eternal realm becomes our only reference point for existence and platform for action. Here, the Lord is fully Unveiled to us while we freely minister His will in the earth. The dichotomy between worship and doing is removed. We attain completed fulfillment of “Thy Kingdom Come”—heaven and earth / eternity and time reconciled in a single people.
As long as we are mortal, we are confined to time and space. God’s momentary eternal shifts will not alter this. We will continue to need protection. But under these confines, we are maturing to that place of permanent shift. Once we reach that catalytic change point, we won’t worry about protection from earth’s wars at all! We will be able to navigate freely at will between the temporal and eternal realms. The power for Eternal shifting will be part of our Inheritance. And we will use it to protect still others even as angels (our “fellowservants”) now use it for us!
Spiritual Vigilance: the Price of Eternal Shifting
Eternal shifting will protect us in the coming global crisis. And its power will become our permanent inheritance at physical Glorification. But whether for temporary protection or that great change to immortality, the grace for end time eternal shifting does not come without a price.
The gift of Eternal shifting for us belongs as but one part of the ULTIMATE SHIFT of all—the realizing of the Lord’s own physical “Appearing” or “Revelation” on the earth—what we call His “coming” or “return.” The Lord’s return marks the end of the dominion of the time/space continuum over the earth. That end is accompanied by extreme earth contortion, the very contortions from which we need protection.
What this means is, the cause of earth’s “tribulation” and our source of protection from it are one and the same! The Ultimate Eternal Shifting of the Lord’s Coming, both produces the destruction of the earth’s time/space systems, yet carries its own “antidote” in the face of that destruction. But only if we know how to avail ourselves of it.
-Watch and Pray
Jesus, knowing His Return to be the ultimate overpowering of the time/space continuum by His Eternal Presence, knew also that the effects of that collision would require an Eternal Shift antidote. From this platform therefore Jesus gave direction concerning His return, accenting two integral concepts: unexpectability and global tribulation. Concerning each concept he issued a command. Regarding His unexpectability He said, “Watch.” Pertaining to global tribulation He said, “Pray.”
Jesus’ command to “Watch” against His “unexpectability” was a direct exhortation to heart preparation needed for encountering the eternal realm: “Watch—don’t get overcharged with the issues of this life—for in an hour as you think not, the Son of Man comes.” Allow me to say it this way: “You must free your hearts for eternal shift by avoiding consumption with time/space events—for My Appearing is from a dimension your minds are not capable of anticipating. It is not according to the hours of time as you think of it.”
Jesus also commanded us to “Pray.” This was specifically regarding the ability to escape inevitable earthwide time/space catharsis (the Great Tribulation) attending His Physical Eternal revelation to the earth. His command can be interpreted both as praying for worthiness to escape (“pray the Lord to make you worthy”), and to be found in such a state resulting from a diligent prayer life (“labor by the power of prayer to the point that you come into a state of worthiness”).
The manifest overpowering of time by eternity produces an indescribable dimensional contortion in the time/space continuum survivable only by entry into eternal shifts, attainable only by prepared enablement. To paraphrase the Lord: “Except those days be “shortened” by entry into the shifts, no flesh will survive the overall contortion.”
To sum then, our ability to enter into the protection of eternal shifts and finally obtain our own final physical shift into eternal immortality depends on a state of heart prepared by “watching” toward the invasion of the temporal by the Lord’s eternal physical body and fortified through “prayer” against the creational catharsis to attend that invasion. Unless we stabilize and bury our hearts into Christ through enduring worship, we cannot physically survive the time/space cataclysm that accompanies the Lord’s physical unveiling.
Those who govern their earthly engagement by active hopeful watching for eternal manifestation and who build themselves up in prayer against the day of contortion, will obtain temporary protection through eternal shifts and go on to obtain their own permanent change. Not only will they survive, they will rule in Heaven’s new world order.
The Smokescreens
In light of the importance of this, it should be evident that the enemy would not want the Lord’s people to fulfil their appointed destiny regarding the power of eternal shifting. To that end, he has effectively set up smokescreens of confusion and half-truths through several prominent clashing teachings within today’s church. All have some truth, but otherwise enough incompleteness to make them destiny-killers. I cite them here only briefly:
- Rapture Teaching
This is the teaching that escape from the Great Time-Eternity Collision through entry into the Great Shift of immortality is automatic and requires no unusual preparation. One need neither “watch” in any way (except on the one level Jesus said would do no good—ie, watching the events of this life), nor pray in particular to be found worthy of escape.
- Anti-Rapture Teaching
This teaching says there is no hope for escape from the Great Time-Eternity Collision nor is it in the purpose of God for us to desire this, despite what Jesus repeatedly exhorted us to pray. We are to watch for His Coming, but any protections will be whatever he wills them to be, or by our own hand through survival techniques, and in any case, our own shift into immortality is a given whenever.
- Third Day Eternity-Confession Teaching
This says that, essentially, the time/space continuum has already been overpowered or done away. We just don’t “realize” it. The past is past and the future is now. Flesh and blood has already inherited the kingdom of God. All we have to do is confess and act like eternity is here, and we can make it so. Jesus’ exhortation to watch and pray has no bearing on us. All the “good” prophecies are now; all the “bad” prophecies are past. Faith makes hope obsolete. So there is no need to “watch and pray” over a “future” anything regarding the Lord’s coming, or our need of protection from any imagined catharsis still to come.
Sorry, friends, but the exhortation of Jesus is too real to me to accept any of these half teachings. If there is anything that is real in the present tense to me now, it is the words, “Watch and pray.” And so I do. And so I will encourage all my readers.
May God show you the way as you Watch and Pray to receive Him, to be received unto Him, to be protected by Him and to be changed into His physical likeness through the grace and power of Eternal Shifting as His own final invasion and the resulting universal catharsis nears!
