The Way of the Cross

 

Allright. Let’s see what we’ve learned so far. We’ve learned:

 

1.     The difference between “being light” and “having light;”

 

2.     The difference between prophetic day and night in society;

 

3.     Why laboring for prophetic daylight will never finally stop prophetic nighttime in the world or finally convert the “earth” into the “sun;”

 

4.     Why we are seduced into believing we can convert the “earth” into the “sun,” and how that is what produces prophetic nighttime; and 

 

5.     Why laboring for prophetic daylight nevertheless remains inescapably necessary for bringing about final replacement of earth’s kingdoms by our Eternal Kingdom of Light. 

 

Can I sum up the mystery of all this very simply? Here it is:

 

It’s about the “way of the cross.”

 

As the corporate children of light in every nation, we can only bring forth the Eternal Kingdom of Light by dying to our blessed illumination of earth’s kingdoms. As we die to what we illumine of earth’s kingdoms, we bring forth more light toward replacing earth’s kingdoms with ourEternal Kingdom. But if we turn to live for the preservation of what we illumine, we lose that light on those kingdoms, returning them to darkness, and hinder their replacement into the next generation.

 

Try out this re-work of Luke 9:24,

 

“Whatever national church finds its life-identity in society will lose it, but the national church that loses its life-identity in society on My account will find it.”   

 

That’s it. That’s the mystery unveiled. It’s the cross. That’s all. Nothing new really—just the maxim of true discipleship applied corporately on a national and finally global scale across an entire age.

 

Just as we individual members of Christ pass from glory to glory toward translation through the work of the cross over a lifetime, so the national and global body of Christ passes from glory to glory through the cross toward translation over a period of centuries. In the same way we each must learn personal self-denial, so the national body of Christ must learn national self-denial, and the global body of Christ must ultimately learn global self-denial (which is what the tribulation under the coming world beast government will be all about.)

 

What does all this mean? It means that if we want to trace the reasons for national prophetic-intercessory debacles (such as the one we have just witnessed in America) to their source, we will find they reduce to this “one thing:” it’s because we have failed as a prophetic intercessory people to live by the way of the cross.

 

The good news? Where the church’s prophetic-intercessory failure abounds, grace much more abounds, out of which comes yet greater Kingdom light. And out of the grandest colossal failure, apostasy and nightfall still to come will dawn the final Light we have all been awaiting...

 

…It’s the way of God. But enough. I’m getting ahead of myself…

 

Circling Back to the Present

 

OK. It’s time to begin our descent. We’ve reached our pinnacle in this series. We’ve got the big picture from the heavenly seat of Christ for properly understanding what’s gone down here over this election. It’s time to come out of the clouds and bring it home. 

 

Having fanned this out to learn what’s really at stake in all national prophetic intercession, I want to apply these lessons to explain what has just happened here in America and where the prophetic intercessory movement is headed vis-à-vis America.

 

I want to look specifically at larger realities the American prophetic intercessory movement ignored, why they contributed to the defeat, and what those factors say about our timeworn concept of revival. Using best prophetic intercessory evidence I’ll also look at what’s ahead in our relationship to Barack Obama and Sarah Palin. And finally I want to peer into what I see as the greater light God has for us in the new darkness, what it means for today’s prophetic intercessory leadership in the United States, and how God will use it to lead us toward our true kingdom.  

 

The first place we will go is to Lakeland ….
